Regardless of which base strategy you use to onboard and engage your influencers, i.e Standard affiliate marketing (See our three base strategies for you to start using today), the main question you will need to answer is what is the best strategy for micro-influencers, broadly speaking? How are they meant to be used?

This marketing channel works very well under specific circumstances, the rule of thumb is to get as many influencers talking about your product/s as possible. If you could get 100 industry specific influencers, all with at least 3,000 followers, you’d be showing your brand to 300,000 highly targeted customers.
This is easier said than done, below are some simple steps to get you started.
- Find 500 influencers with less than 50,000.
You will need to reach out to at least 500 influencers to ensure you reach your target of 100 partnered influencers.
- Establish your price per post
Some influencers will cost more than others. Work to your target audience size to work out roughly how much you should pay per influencer. This can be an average.
Using the above example, paying an influencer that has 3,000 followers $50 per post is reasonable. Within reason, you should look to pay $50 per 3,000 – 6,000 followers.
Above this, begin scaling. Most influencer are more than happy to work for slightly lower rates during a brand’s first trial, appreciating that you need to test the results.

- Make the post easy
Avoid videos when working with many influencers, this makes the project management incredibly complex and difficult to ensure deliverables are completed on time. A simple image, or very basic video will usually suffice, take on the editing if you can to ensure maximum quality of output.
Bear in mind, many influencers at the early stage are not necessarily highly technical, creating a basic video is a slight challenge for some. We recommend relaxing your quality standards, appreciating the audience engagement will be more authentic. Some of our best performing videos have not ‘followed convention’ to ensure a quality video, authenticity is key to their audience, as it’s more genuine.

- Launch Period
Within reason, have all the posts delivered over the course of a week. Encourage engagement between all the influencers to maximise this and motivate the social media platform to show your post to a wider audience.
