Micro-Influencers, in essence, require a different approach when compared to bigger, more established personalities.
The majority of micro-influencers are not media professionals, they do not necessarily know what they need to do to give you the best content. Below are some basic steps to ensuring you get exactly what you need.
- Contact
Be genuine in these conversations, introduce yourselves and tell them what you liked about their content. Ask if they are open to the idea of working with you and love what you’re doing.
- Negotiation
If the answer is yes, great! You have something they love. Offer what you believe to be reasonable for the work they will need to create. This can take some back and forth, and leeway either sides.
As the brand, you will need to ensure the influencer is sufficiently motivated to work with you.
- Project Start
So, you have agreed a fee, sign contracts and determined deliverables, ensure you have sent them the following:
a. Milestone Delivery Dates: Ensure scripts and drafts are delivered by specific dates to ensure the project continues to move work.
b. Inspiration: We learned early on to send influencers some ideas and references for when they go to create your content.
- Reviewing and Feedback
Ensure any and all feedback is given with clear instructions and references. Influencers at this level do not necessarily have all the editing and design skills, or a team to help them complete this.
Make sure this is done for any text/post descriptions.
- Launch
It’s launch day!
Ensure you have communicated the following:
- Time the post needs to be made public
- Accounts the influencer needs to tag in their post
- Whether there is a need for multiple posts
